Program Overview

The AYA International Youth Program is a selective initiative of the American Young Artists Association dedicated to identifying, supporting, and presenting exceptional young musicians from across the United States and around the world.

Designed for artists under the age of 18 who are engaged in serious classical training, the program provides structured performance platforms, artistic mentorship, and international visibility within a professional and institutionally guided environment.

This is not a recreational music activity or short-term enrichment course.
It is a carefully structured artistic platform built to support disciplined development, long-term artistic growth, and global perspective at an early stage.

Program Vision

AYA believes that artistic excellence is cultivated long before a professional debut.

The International Youth Program exists to:

Who It Is For

The program is intended for instrumentalists and vocalists under the age of 18 who are engaged in rigorous classical training and preparing for conservatory-level study. It also welcomes international participants seeking structured U.S.-based artistic exposure within a professional framework. Admission is selective and based on artistic merit, musical maturity, and alignment with AYA’s institutional values.

Selected participants are invited to perform in AYA youth concerts presented in professional performance venues. Programs are thoughtfully curated and formally structured, ensuring that participants experience the discipline and standards of professional artistic environments.

Repertoire selection, stage presentation, and performance preparation are reviewed to maintain consistency with AYA’s artistic expectations.

Artistic Mentorship

Participants may receive structured feedback sessions, masterclass opportunities, and artistic guidance from established musicians and AYA-affiliated artists.

Mentorship is focused not only on technical refinement but also on interpretive depth, stage presence, and long-term artistic development.

International Exchange

The program encourages cross-border participation and cultural dialogue, connecting young musicians from different countries through shared performance platforms and collaborative initiatives.

Professional Visibility

Selected performances may be featured through AYA’s digital and institutional platforms, offering early exposure within an international arts network.

Artistic Standards

AYA maintains high artistic expectations across all of its initiatives.

Youth participants are introduced to professional-level performance standards appropriate to their stage of development. Musical preparation, repertoire integrity, stage conduct, and formal presentation are taken seriously.

Relationship to the AYA International Youth Competition

As part of its broader youth initiatives, AYA also presents the AYA International Youth Competition as a separate annual recognition platform.

While the Competition operates independently, it serves as a complementary initiative within AYA’s institutional youth framework. Select laureates may be invited to participate in Youth Program showcases or special artistic projects, based on artistic alignment.

Participation in the Youth Program is not limited to competition winners, and admission remains based on holistic artistic evaluation.

Together, the Program and the Competition form a structured ecosystem that both cultivates and recognizes excellence at an early stage.

Application

Applications are reviewed by the AYA Artistic Committee. Applicants are invited to submit video performance recordings, a brief artistic statement, a short biography, and, where applicable, a teacher recommendation. All submissions are evaluated through a comprehensive artistic review process. Selected candidates will be contacted directly.
