Cheyoon Lee

Cheyoon Lee is a South Korean cellist active internationally as both a soloist and chamber musician. Based in the United States for many years, she has cultivated her artistic voice within a rigorous and culturally diverse musical environment.
Her early training began in Korea before she continued her studies at The Juilliard School Pre-College Division. She later earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the New England Conservatory and her Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, studying with distinguished pedagogues who shaped her disciplined, refined approach to sound and phrasing.
Lee has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, as well as in Berlin and other international stages. Her playing reflects structural clarity, tonal warmth, and a thoughtful chamber sensibility. She has received multiple honors in both solo and chamber music settings, demonstrating consistent artistic excellence across performance contexts.
An engaged chamber musician, she has appeared in curated concert series and international festivals such as Kneisel Hall, Meadowmount, the PyeongChang Music Festival, and the Bowdoin International Music Festival, where she was selected as a Fellowship Artist. Through these programs, she has collaborated with leading cellists and chamber musicians, further refining her interpretive depth and ensemble sensitivity.
In addition to her performing career, Lee is active in pedagogy. She currently serves as a string instructor at a major American conservatory and continues advanced doctoral studies under the mentorship of one of today’s leading cello pedagogues. Her work bridges performance and teaching, emphasizing precision, integrity, and long-term artistic development.
