DEVIN MOORE
Violist
American violist, visual artist, and creative director Devin Moore is recognized for his dynamic artistry, socially engaged creativity, and commitment to community. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he has performed in major venues around the world, including the Kennedy Center, Spivey Hall, Carnegie Hall, Maison Symphonique, the Elbphilharmonie, the Concertgebouw, and the Esterházy Palace. His festival appearances include the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Kneisel Hall, the Aspen Music Festival and School, and the National Youth Orchestra of the USA.
Devin has performed with leading ensembles such as the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra—where he has served as co-principal violist—as well as the New York Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, The Knights, and the Jupiter Chamber Players. A graduate of The Juilliard School, he held principal positions in many of the institution’s ensembles and was a recipient of a Kovner Fellowship, studying under Samuel Rhodes and Misha Amory. He was also honored with the Joseph W. Polisi Prize for his advocacy and leadership within the Juilliard community.
As a founding member of the Isidore String Quartet, Devin has garnered international recognition. The quartet received First Prize at the Banff International String Quartet Competition and an Avery Fisher Career Grant, has performed in over 150 cities worldwide, and has served as the Peak Fellowship Ensemble-in-Residence at Southern Methodist University as well as the inaugural Arts Leadership Ensemble for PROJECT: Music Heals Us.
Beyond classical performance, Devin is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of the Greenroom Ensemble, an organization dedicated to performing and uplifting works by composers from underrepresented communities. His artistic background also spans visual art and musical theatre; he was a Gene Kelly Award winner for Best Actor and a finalist in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, performing at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre.
