Pianist

Giancarlo Llerena is a Peruvian American pianist, collaborator, and teaching artist based in New York City, known for his versatility, expressive musicianship, and dynamic presence across concert stages and interdisciplinary projects. He has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and Teatro Angelo Mariani, and has collaborated with artists such as Joshua Bell, Larisa Martinez, and Jessie Montgomery. His work also includes a featured appearance at Apple TV’s Severance Emmy event and participation in the North American premiere of Georg Friedrich Haas’s 11,000 Strings, praised by The New York Times as “awe-inspiring.”

Giancarlo has received recognition through awards in competitions such as the National YoungArts Competition and has participated in leading festivals, including Tanglewood and Aspen. As a Fellowship Pianist with Classic Lyric Arts, he has coached and performed with singers throughout Italy and France. He has also worked in masterclasses with celebrated artists including Hilary Hahn, Isabel Leonard, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet.

Committed to accessibility and community engagement, Giancarlo has earned multiple fellowships at The Juilliard School and has served as both pianist and educator for the Harmony Program. He is also a Steinway & Sons Educational Partner.

Giancarlo is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano at Juilliard as a Kovner Fellow, studying with Lydia Brown and Brian Zeger. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance with Academic Honors from Juilliard, where he trained under Veda Kaplinsky and Julian Martin.
