Dancer Choreographer

Polish dancer and choreographer Julia Ciesielska is a graduate of The Juilliard School in New York, where she was awarded the Hector Zaraspe Prize for Choreographic Promise. Known for her expressive physicality, choreographic imagination, and compelling stage presence, she has performed works by leading contemporary creators including Medhi Walerski, Johannes Wieland, Aszure Barton, Shen Wei, Raja Feather Kelly, Sidra Bell, and Caili Quan. She has also appeared with LEV Dance Company in R.O.S.E by Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar at the Park Avenue Armory.

Julia’s choreographic work has been featured in numerous Juilliard productions, including Choreographers and Composers, Senior Production, and multiple editions of the Juilliard Choreographic Honors. Her choreography has been presented by the Traverse City Dance Project and selected for the DUMBO Dance Festival, earning recognition for its emotional clarity and innovative movement language. She is also a two-time first-place winner of the Polish Choreographic Competition ZAiKS.

Celebrated for her emerging artistic voice, Julia has been honored with distinctions such as Young Dancer of the Year, Artistic Hope, and Young Talent, along with multiple awards from the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Her expanding creative work includes collaborations with major institutions, including choreographing for dancers of New York City Ballet through the New York Choreographic Institute.

With a growing international presence as both performer and creator, Julia continues to forge a multifaceted career defined by bold physical expression, choreographic depth, and artistic curiosity.
