SARAH GHANDOUR
Cellist
Lebanese-American cellist Sarah Ghandour is an expressive and versatile artist whose work spans classical, Baroque, and contemporary traditions. She recently completed her Doctor of Musical Arts at Stony Brook University, where she also earned her Master’s degree under the mentorship of Colin Carr. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the Bard Conservatory, where she studied with Peter Wiley, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
Sarah has received numerous distinctions throughout her career, including the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship, which supported a year-long artist residency in Paris, and top honors at the Pablo Casals Festival solo competition, culminating in a performance at the historic Abbey of Saint-Michel de Cuxa in Prades, France. She was later awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Slovenia, where she researched and performed classical and folk music across the country with the support of the U.S. Embassy.
Dedicated to historically informed performance, Sarah currently studies Baroque cello with Phoebe Carrai at The Juilliard School and joins the Handel and Haydn Society as a Stone Fellow. Outside of her musical pursuits, she enjoys rock climbing, Cuban salsa dancing, and printmaking.
