Sarah Tuan

pianist

Sarah Tuan is a pianist recognized for her expressive depth, lyrical sensitivity, and wide-ranging artistic presence. She has appeared at leading venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, New York Steinway Hall, Klavierhaus, and the Warsaw Philharmonic Concert Hall. Her musical achievements include top prizes at major international competitions, along with invitations to the Chopin International Piano Competition and the Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition.

A returning fellow at Kneisel Hall, she has been featured on NPR’s From the Top and appears in the upcoming documentary Moonlight, which highlights her performances on a one-of-a-kind Bösendorfer art case piano designed by Pollaro Inc.

In addition to her concert work, Sarah is deeply involved in arts leadership, education, and community engagement. She has served as a Teaching Assistant at The Juilliard School, supporting faculty, coordinating musical excerpts, assisting student musicians, and providing administrative and artistic support across the department. Her experience also includes guest speaking and translation work with the Cliburn, where she collaborated with competitors, assisted their families, created English subtitles, and contributed insights on conservatory admissions alongside Juilliard administration.

Sarah previously served as a student board member of the Steinway Society of the Bay Area, where she contributed to audience engagement initiatives, concert coordination, and social media strategy. She also led Hope of Music as its president, directing benefit concerts and supporting community outreach through artistic programming.

She is currently a Teaching Fellow and Master of Music candidate at The Juilliard School, studying with Robert McDonald. Across her work as a performer, educator, and arts advocate, Sarah continues to expand her artistic voice while contributing meaningfully to the musical communities she serves.
