Isabella Mier

Violist

Isabella Vita Mier is an Italian–Mexican American violist from Los Angeles, California. She currently serves as principal violist and viola soloist of the San Gabriel Valley Symphony and performs with the Livingston String Quartet. Mentored by Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians Minor Wetzel and Meredith Snow, she has worked with distinguished conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, Maxim Eshkenazy, Stefano Vignati, Larry Livingston, Mei-Ann Chen, and Leonard Slatkin.

Her collaborative engagements include performances with LA Opera, the Charlotte Symphony, Dream Orchestra, the International Lyric Orchestra in Vicenza, the Czech National Philharmonic, the San Gabriel Valley Symphony, and the Eisner Intergenerational Orchestra. She has received recognition from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Colburn School, and has been awarded prizes at competitions such as the Royal Maas Competition, the Vienna International Classic Strings Competition, and the Manhattan International Music Competition. She was also named a semifinalist in the Music Center Spotlight Awards.

Mier has appeared widely as both a soloist and orchestral performer in venues including Harpa Concert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Teatro La Fenice, the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre, the Music Center for the Performing Arts, the Concertgebouw, and the Musikverein. She has performed as a soloist across Austria, Germany, Malaysia, Italy, Iceland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United States, and has participated in festivals and academies including the Tara Festival in Belgium, the HIMA Festival in Iceland, and the Young Artist program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Upcoming engagements include performances in Norway, Finland, and additional international locations.

Mier trained at the Renaissance Arts Academy, the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, the Colburn School, and LACHSA. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music under the guidance of Isaac Malkin.

A dedicated advocate for arts education, Mier is the founder of Chamber for Children, a nonprofit organization bringing chamber music to underserved youth.
