ALISSA GORETSKY
Soprano
Alissa Goretsky is a Los Angeles born soprano currently in her second year as a Butler Studio artist with Houston Grand Opera.
She was awarded third prize in the 2024 Eleanor McCollum Competition Concert of Arias and is a National Winner of the 2025 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
In the 2025 to 2026 season, Goretsky appears in a wide range of roles with Houston Grand Opera, including Young Lover in Il tabarro and Nursing Sister in Suor Angelica, both part of Il trittico, as well as Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, Gretel in the company’s Family Day production, Curley’s Wife in Of Mice and Men, and Berta in The Barber of Seville.
She was a 2025 Apprentice Singer with Santa Fe Opera, where she covered the roles of Mimì in La bohème and Helmwige in Die Walküre. In the 2024 to 2025 season, she made her Houston Grand Opera debut as Clorinda in Cinderella and reprised the role in the company’s English language Family Day performances.
Goretsky made her operatic debut in 2019 as Gismonda in Ottone at Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall under the baton of Corey Jameson. In March 2024, she returned to the same venue to perform the role of Ma Zegner in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up.
She holds both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
