Tenor Angel Raii Gomez is an emerging voice on the international opera stage, recognized for his vibrant stage presence and heart-stoppingly beautiful lyric tone. A member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, he has appeared in productions including Andrea Chénier and Frida, and has upcoming engagements with the New National Theatre Tokyo as Ernesto in Don Pasquale and with Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville as Rodolfo in La Bohème.

Gomez has performed leading roles such as the title characters in Mascagni’s L’amico Fritz and Gounod’s Faust, as well as the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto, Pluton in Offenbach’s Orphée aux enfers, and significant concert appearances including Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Mozart’s Requiem, and Orff’s Carmina Burana. His work has taken him to stages including Opera North (NH), the San Diego Symphony, the Ocean City Pops, and Carnegie Hall.

His repertoire continues to expand and includes roles such as Percy in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, Count Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata, Triquet in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Don José in Bizet’s Carmen, and Podestà in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera. He has appeared with organizations including the Academy of Vocal Arts, New Jersey Master Chorale, and the Ocean City Pops.

Gomez is the recipient of multiple distinguished honors, including First Prize at the Meistersinger Competition at AIMS in Graz, First Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Giargiari Bel Canto Competition, and recognition as a National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. He is a graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts.
