Soprano

American soprano Kira Kaplan, praised for her “youthful allure and charming tone” and “dazzling coloratura brilliance,” is rapidly gaining international recognition. Based in the United Kingdom, she has worked extensively with major companies through her training with the National Opera Studio, collaborating with English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera North, the Royal Opera House, and Glyndebourne.

As an Emerging Artist with Scottish Opera, Kira has performed roles including Musetta in La Bohème, Norina in Don Pasquale, and Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring. She also created the lead role of Sylvia Lawless in the world premiere of A Matter of Misconduct, a Scottish Opera and Opera Holland Park co-production that received a UK Theatre Awards nomination and was featured on OperaVision.

A decorated competition artist, Kira is a three-time Regional Winner and Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and has received awards from the Career Bridges Grant, the Camille Coloratura Competition, and the Annapolis Opera Competition. Her previous young artist residencies include the Boston University Opera Institute, Finger Lakes Opera, and the Brevard Music Center.

Kira has appeared as soprano soloist in concert performances including Brahms’ Requiem at Boston Symphony Hall. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Literature and Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
